Its finally started...

Attention birthing community on Long Island !

The Birthing Center at Nassau University Medical Center has broken ground and I want the word to get out ASAP because I'm excited about all the changes that are happening.

Tuesday morning I got a call to empty my L&D locker because the lockers were being moved to start renovations to the Birth Center Entry way. As many of you know, the new Labor, Delivery, Recovery area has been in process since June.  The last weeks of 2013 will be busier than ever as flooring and painters and furnishings will be brought into the new unit to complete it. I've been doing an almost weekly walk through and can say that its happening.

I'm so excited that i've decided to blog and keep you all in the know.
I'll be posting pictures and want your comments and suggestions on how to let others know whats happening.  These changes to the facility are only the decorative changes. Important yes - but even more important are the policies making NUMC the best place to birth on Long Island.
-  lowest C-Section rates
- highest VBAC rates
- nonseparation policies
- Baby Friendly policies coming

Are you getting excited?
I hope so! More soon!

  2. Dale, I love that you are blogging! How do you find the time? I'm excited for NUMC to finally be recognized and acknowledged by the masses for its mission to support and honor what giving birth is all about. The renovation/decorations will be what jump starts this process. Sad in a way. I see a new personalized tee shirt in my future that says, "I gave birth at NUMC before and after its makeover :)
